Homemade toothpaste

I enjoy making products at home and having control over the ingredients that I use. This is a recipe for a homemade toothpaste with no SLS, no fluoride, no artificial sweeteners and flavorings. Just simple, easy to make and most importantly e-f-f-e-c-t-i-v-e.

  • 3 tbsp. melted coconut oil
  • 3 tbsp. baking soda
  • 10 drops propolis tincture (I use a 30% solution)
  • 5 drops peppermint/ mint essential oil (optional)

Add melted coconut oil and baking soda in a small mixing bowl. Stir well until a paste texture is reached. Use the desired amount of drops from the propolis tincture and the essential oil. Stir well and transfer in a jar of choice. Keep in the bathroom with a lid on.

As the baking soda is somewhat abrasive do not over brush your teeth. Use lightly without pressing too much on the surface of the enamel. Massage gently and do not forget your gums. It might sting a bit from the antibacterial effect of the propolis.

P.S. Propolis helps stimulate the immune system. It is rich in natural flavonoids, known for their antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antiviral and antifungal properties.

Internal – helps in the treatment of influenza, sore throats, colds and other respiratory complaints.

External – relieves dry and scaly skin. Promotes healing and recovery  of skin scars. It can be used for cleaning of wounds and injuries

Enjoy the beauty of the Spring and the rebirth of Nature
