“You are what you breath, eat and put on your body”
As the skin is the largest organ of elimination it is important to choose very carefully what we use as lotions, milks, shower gels, soaps, oils and scrubs. I do not like using anything that is harsh, might cause irritation and clog my pores. I feel all gels and soaps do that as I can see the slimy coating they leave in the bathtub. And I have tried the very famous method of washing clothes with a bar of castile soap and baking soda. With the time the soap causes built up no matter what you use it for. That is why this product is not my everyday choice when I am under the shower. What also seems illogical to me is using sugar-based scrubs when almost everybody nowadays suffers from candida overgrowth and sugar metabolism issues. Definitely not my preference. What you put on the skin goes inside the body. I am in favor of pure water and once to twice a week a homemade body scrub.
This is a recipe I choose as it is gentle, full of clean and minimal ingredients. It takes no time to put it together and the products that go in are a staple in my cabinet.
- 1 tbs coconut oil
- 1-2 tbs baking soda
- 1/2 tbs sea salt
- 1tsp GI Broom *
- 2,3 drops of essential oil of choice
*or any of the ingredients in that formula that you can find separately like herbs, activated charcoal, bentonite clay
I really like this formula because it removes the dead skin and at the same time detoxifies it by pulling any toxins and acids that lie under the epidermis. It is especially good in case you have moles (caused by candida and fermented sugars) and other skin eruptions.
Mix all ingredients in a small bowl and apply in the shower on dry skin. Massage it well in circular motions starting from your feet up. Leave it for a couple of minutes and wash off with warm water. The coconut oil will moisturize your skin and you will not need any additional lotions, butters or creams.
Hope you try it and like it as much as I do!
Stay aware and #fruitup! What you put inside the body is as important. And let’s not forget the spirit – good thoughts, feelings and deeds.
